BS. The GOP is 100% responsible for deregulation. It's part of their party mantra, their "core values". McCain, Palin and Romney all championed deregulation just a few months ago at the GOP convention. You will have a very hard time finding ANY democrat every making such a speech, ever. Democrats are not responsible for deregulation anymore than they were for invading Iraq. True, some went along with the GOP Reagan-Bush-Gramm-Delay deregulation revolution and forgot what it did to the S+L's, but at any time since 2000 when dems lost control of congress, if you had asked any of them if they wanted to deregulate big business and banks, 99% would have said absolutely NOT. Furthermore the attacks from the right on Barney Frank are ridiculous. I remember hearing nine months ago that Frank was fighting for more deregulation of Wall Street and the White House was ignoring him. Same with Elliot SPitzer which was probably why he was targeted by the Bush FBI. Sicne when doies the FBI care who hires prostitutes?
