Al Qaeda has lost the Middle East The Economist likes the changes in Iraq and in the Middle East... but there isn't a single mention that Americans had anything to do with causing those changes. The new interest in abandoning violence, maybe in democracy, as well as recent desperate, confused, self-defeating actions by al Qaeda -- they all must have just happened on their own accord..... How fast things change. It seems, only a few weeks ago the only talk was about the "quagmire".
