I had mentioned in my post that three of soccer's most hated teams made it to the quarter finals. England is hated not so much because of its team but because of the chaos and havoc caused by its rampaging fans. Germany is hated for its rough play, which has lead to the label "Ugly Germans". Anyone remember the keeper Schumacher back in the '82 WC? Brazil is hated simply because of its success which breeds arrogance. Italy, which hasn't made it to the quarters yet, might be hated simply because of its continuous record of surprising everyone tournament after tournament and sticking it to the big guys.
