Apology/apologia.
Apology first - let's , uhm, with over this get, or something! (What's the rule on ending a sentence with TWO prepositions?!)
I realize that I'm on the Grammar thread - so I am well advised to dispense with my usual terseness. I frequently employ lingual devices which run roughshod over the forms in the interest of communicating succinctly. The truncated sentences in the contested post can be thus explained. Nonetheless, the truncations are perhaps grating to the enforcers among us.
As for my morals - I deny everything, and that is my position!
Apologia.
On a medium as informal as a chatroom bulletin board, I believe that contractions which gain brevity without costing clarity are not only excusable, but laudable. These contractions are a mirror of the way we speak. I must have trimmed twenty words out of my post and still made my point, or points.
Anyhow - I gots the Casull!
