Muslims, Christians, Crime and the Media

By Sensible Mom

John Hinderaker at Power Line has an interesting post about the news black-out surrounding the suicide bombing at the University of Oklahoma and wonders, "Still, it's hard to understand why the major media are so determined to ignore the Oklahoma story."

Don't you think that if the media knew these bombers were Christians, they'd be all over the stories? We know, for example, that the Olympic park bomber, Eric Rudolph, was a Christian.

If the media can, the connection between Islam and terror is buried (the DC snipers), stories aren't reported (like the suicide bombing at the University of Oklahoma) or the terrorists who act in the name of religion are given more tolerable names. So terrorists in Iraq become insurgents, and Palestinian suicide bombers become victims of oppression (as if using yourself as a bomb is an acceptable means of expression).

The media constantly try to remind us that Islam is a religion of peace, yet we can see with our own eyes that it often isn't. Actions speak louder than words after all. The question is why the media feels compelled to be the apologists for them.
