But the mainstream is just slower versions of the highend desktop chips. Maybe you have a point with things like Durons and celerons which are actually aimed at the low end, but I think AMD will do better selling Hammers that bin lower for mainstream desktop use then if the just chucked them.

Also AMD needs a market to sell chips during the times when they fall behind on speed, like now.
