I think the fact that the US hasn't been attacked at home since 911 to be quite an achievement. We were promised and threatened with more attacks but they haven't come off.

I think there are two reasons for this. One is the domestic security procedures - Patriot Act, tracking terror finances, eavesdropping of terror communications - and Bush has been accused falsely and hysterically of "shredding the Constitution" for all this.

The other reason is the invasion of Iraq. Whether intentionally planned or not, jihadis now go to fight us there instead of coming here.

I don't believe the war has created terrorists. On the contrary, by pitting al Qaida against fellow Arabs in Iraq it has made al Qaida less attractive in the Arab street than it was before. So if anything it has probably reduced the number of terrorists. Remember, that before the war pretty much everyone in the Arab world (and many other countries) believed the US was killing 50,000 Iraqi babies a year by enforcing the UN sanctions.

Health care is another issue. Its not a case of millions without health care, its a case of millions without health insurance. We already have government provided health insurance programs for the elderly (Medicare) and the poor (Medicaid). And paying for those programs - along with Social Security - are what endangers our childrens and grandchildrens financial security.

As for Michael Moore, don't trust anyone who says Cuba has better health care than the US.
