Pat, thanks for the warm welcome.
re; your comment that you have not heard anything about Nortel as a potential suitor.
There have been several inferences on this thread from "The Beach" and others as to a possible Nortel involvement. But, the Canadian Globe & Mail has reported this on several occasions, and I quote;
"GLOBE SAYS NEWBRIDGE NAMES LIKELY SUITORS"
FRI NOV 19,1999
THE GLOBE AND MAIL REPORTS IN IT'S FRIDAY NOV. 19TH EDITION THAT NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS NAMED FOUR LIKELY SUITORS YESTERDAY, CISCO SYSTEMS, L.M. ERICSSON TELEPHONE CO., ALCATEL SA, AND NORTEL NETWORKS............... MR. MACLEAN BELIEVES A MERGER WITH NORTEL WOULD WORK BEST BECAUSE OF CERTAIN "CULTURAL ALIGNMENTS."

Also, an excerpt from Nov. 22 Globe & Mail
"TELLABS INC. OF LISLE, ILL., SAID WEDNESDAY THAT IT HELD UNSUCCESSFUL TAKEOVER TALKS WITH NEWBRIDGE IN MARCH. IN ADDITION TO TELLABS, AT LEAST THREE OTHER TELECOMMUNICATIONS GIANTS HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN BUYING NEWBRIDGE. ALCATEL SA OF FRANCE AND L.M. ERICSSON TELEPHONE CO. INC. OF SWEDEN HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT NEWBRIDGE IN RECENT WEEKS, AND NORTEL NETWORKS OF BRAMPTON, ONT., CONSIDERED MAKING AN OFFER LAST YEAR BEFORE BUYING BAY NETWORKS OF SANTA CLARA, CALIF."
Pat, I trust that you will discover my posts will concentrate on verifiable facts that should be of interest to all readers, and like yourself, I will avoid replying to "hype" postings based on heresay and conjecture.
