Ya know- my dad saw that sort of thing in the Pacific in WWII. Those sorts of stories don't shock me. When you send men to kill other men, you have to expect some of them will do things like that, even though they are not supposed to. You are, after all, asking men to go kill other men. I realize we want to make that have "rules" and we want the killing to be "civilized"- but when you really think about it, that's a rather odd game we are creating. No wonder it makes some men crazy, and turns a lot of others into alcoholics.

What bothers me much more is the "kill 'em all" attitude of some Americans wrt Muslims. The vast majority of the world's Muslims are just like the vast majority of people in the US- hardworking family people, who aren't war mongering nuts. They just want to live and let live. The people who militate for crusades- no matter what side they are on, are much more dangerous than the isolated nut who collects fingers, or scalps, noses of ears.

As for the baby thing- wingers are so dead set against government intervention, they can't see that cigarette smoke is actually an assault. If people on the street were trying to inject pot into others, via their lungs, you might get a whimper of excitement from the right- but because it's a "legal" drug- tobacco- wingers are all hot about regulations protecting people from smoke.
