Yes, they have had full access to the market and have been buying into the hype of what ever the spin promised. Thing is, it was a fad like the pet rock, hula-hoop, etc. It was the buy side of the buy and hold strategy that got out of whack. The strategy will come back but the buy side will be at levels that make economic sense.
