Not to long ago! How do You think Noranda feel right now???
Quebec Property - Nickel/Copper
In early 1998 a very promising nickel exploration opportunity (the Lac Rocher Property) was presented to us by a group of Rouyn-Noranda prospectors, known to us for many years as competent, professional explorationists.
The core property is located on Lac Rocher, about 80 air miles north of Mattagami, Quebec. It is comprised of 20 claim units measuring about 320 ha. (790 acres). For protection about 100 additional claims were staked. Prospecting has ascertained that an airborne magnetic anomaly appears to be caused by outcropping gabbroic rocks with disseminated nickel-copper mineralization with significant PGE's.
Since acquiring the claims a modest amount of work was done by the prospectors on the exposed mineralization. A channel sample using a diamond saw was taken across 20 to 26 feet of the exposed mineralization. Values over the trench cuts averaged about 0.53% nickel, 0.30% copper, with significant platinum, palladium and cobalt. Rock specimens were sent to the University of Toronto for thin section study resulting in the identification of the nickel mineral pentlandite.
Suphide mineralization consists of pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and pentlandite. A strongly positive aspect of the mineralization is the high ratio of pentlandite and chalcopyrite to pyrrhotite, characteristics that enhance the highly prospective nature of this prospect.
Terms and conditions of the first year of an option agreement are $25,000 cash plus a commitment to spend not less than $50,000 in work for the first year. A payment of 50,000 shares is required with a production royalty of $0.50 (fifty cents) per ton of all ore mined and milled from the property.
Management regards this property as an exceptional prospect with superior upside potential for a discovery. The prospect can be adequately assessed within 3 to 4 months. Fieldwork is in progress. [Top of Report] |
