bp,

I would guess very little, especially if they can provide a 600MHz solution in the short term. I don't think the average user (corporate or individual) will know or care that an 800Mhz version is coming shortly -- they'll go ahead and buy if they've been waiting for faster processors. In fact, I'll bet the PIII with 100Mhz SDRAM will sell just fine for the same reason.

Also, keep in mind that you're not giving up much to buy a 533MHz PIII with 600Mhz Rambus (1.2GB/sec). I'm not technically savvy enough to say for sure, but I don't think you'd see much performance improvement with 800Mhz memory. I could be wrong about that, though. Anybody know differently? The RIMMS themselves will still be 800Mhz capable, Intel will just not be running them at full speed.

What's your take? Think it'll hurt them?

Dave B

p.s. Good morning, Jeff!!
