If our nation were attacked as Dec. 7, 1941, I doubt that we would be tough enough to risk our lives, our lifestyles and make the sacrifices that our parents did to do what is right.

You will find no one who loves the '40s more than me, and I certainly respect what our parents did. But there is an attempt today to rewrite our WWII history as a hagiography. Americans weren't saints. A lot of them were a very selfish bunch who wanted to live the good life and make a buck off of fighting the war.

For instance, we suffered an enormous defeat at sea in 1942 that surpassed our losses at Pearl Harbor. Our Pols went with the locals and refused to black out our cities at night. This lite up our ships very well for the nazi subs who sank our shipping like it was pop-ups at a carnival shooting gallery.
