John: Listening to the pundits (God help us) just makes me wonder if anybody really has a handle on trending....Here is what I feel at this point:

Democrats: Hillary in disarray...slipping, She is so well known that there is nothing anybody can learn about her that is going to make them feel better..only worse. Obama still seems like a breath of fresh air. Frankly, if President Bush had NOT been elected in 2000 with six years as governor his only credentials, Obama would be tosses summarily as too inexperienced. As it is, he will just throw out the Bush comparison when he needs it, but with appropriate distinctions. I still like Richardson, but he has no momentum....looking for VP slot, which would be great place for him and a powerful vote magnet for hispanics. Edwards can prosper if the economy cools dramatically and we see another round of layoffs later this year...His message still resonates with many who feel disenfranchised in the American Dream. He's a longer shot..but could emerge later. Again. one term in Senate...but long service doesn't seem to be a plus for anybody right now.

Republicans: Man, it is still a wide open horse race. I was one who didn't think Rudy had the staying power, but he is showing better at this stage than I thought. McCain seems so "out there" and his die-hard support for the President's war plan won't help him with the people he hoped it would. I see Romney as the wild card...but he doesn't have a lot of government experience (more in business)...and we all know the rest of the concerns about him. '

Real Wild Card: Ann Coulter. She has all the answers and isn't afraid to state her mind in any terms necessary. (vbg).
