Erbitux is a monoclonal antibody against the EGF-receptor.

The idea of blocking signal transduction from the EGF-r (expressed at high levels on many sold tumors) to thwart, or potentially reverse, the progression of some cancers, is not a novel idea.

I am NOT up-to-date on the latest work in this field in general, nor with the antibody approach in particular.
