The St. Joe Company Announces Settlement to End Airport and West Bay Land-Use Challenges; All Parties Agree on Settlement Terms With Ratification, Land-Use Entitlements Will be Final for the Airport Site and West Bay DSAP Phase One; FAA's Environmental Impact Statement Next Step in Airport Relocation Process The West Bay DSAP consists of three phases. Phase one, which operates independently of the airport approvals, provides for 685 residential units, 360,000 square feet of commercial space, a 150-room hotel and a 50 slip marina. With ratification of this agreement, land-use entitlements are final for this phase. Phases two and three are conditioned on the final approvals of the relocated airport. At full build-out, the West Bay DSAP provides for approximately 4.4 million square feet of industrial, commercial and retail space, 5,842 dwelling units, 490 hotel rooms and two marinas.
The 4,000 acre Airport DSAP provides for a terminal, runways and ancillary facilities associated with an airport. The decision to relocate the airport ultimately rests with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Panama City - Bay County International Airport Authority. The FAA and the Airport Authority continue to work on an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed new airport. The FAA has indicated that a draft of the EIS is expected to be released before the end of the year. |
