Jeffrey, No problema re: delays. I appreciate your informative comments. The gentleman I rent from is Canadian and he has given me a bit of background on the country, but nothing that really has helped me to get a feel for how the politics and economics intertwine. Thanks again for your input.

I've seen comments by a well know promoter of "seasonals" predicting a C$ at par! I also stick to position trades. The average is about a month, but losers are generally much shorter, so the average time in a winner is closer to 40-45 days. I think a lot of traders are in commodities for the action and a strategy like mine does not appeal to that mentality. The strategy started out as research on a channel breakout system (not too creative!) and evolved into more of a trend spotting and following system. I still keep an eye out for channel breakouts. Since they are so well publicized, a lot of times you can catch a quick profit on the self fullfilling prophecy effect.

Your method of watching for moves based on fundamentals and news is likely as good as any for deciding when to take a position. I think the winners are sorted from the losers based on what they do AFTER they enter a trade. It sounds like you have the discipline to get out quickly when you're wrong and hang in there when you're right.

I'm always interested in new ideas and haven't seen Mr. Wards system. Please post a link. Thanks.

I trade a number of markets. The only rule is that it has to be liquid and not prone to frequent gaps. I haven't traded 30 year bonds yet only because I'm starting with a relatively small account and try to stick with a margin requirement less than 10% of my free equity on any position. I've had some success with the EuroDollar this year. My back testing has shown good results on the 10 year note and I'm sure the 30 year would be comparable.

BTW, I saw your post over in GOOFI land. Quite a place. Beats the hell out of reality!
