It could happen in a month or two.

Remember that Qualcomm will not issue the SpinCo stock dividend to the Q shareholders until five or six months after about 10% of the shares are sold at the IPO. You still have the better part of a year to wait until the certificates hit your hands.

I'm certainly planning to hold my SpinCo shares for a year or so until the future becomes clearer. SpinCo can only hope to become a King among wireless ASIC designers/producers so its future position will rest on execution. I do, however, picture them assuming a dominate design/manufacturing role similar to that exhibited by JDSU in the optical comm business.

It does occur to me that SpinCo, having inherited such great genetic material, may in fact develop IPR in areas apart form its parent and thus establish Gorilla credentials and domination over a new market area. We'll just have to wait and see.
