William, will tech profits be growing at 20% annually in 1998? We don't know that yet. I'm no bear market expert, but I do know that networking has steadily become increasingly competitive, with every imaginable company coming out with their own line of networking products. KO will get it's due eventually. All I can say is that the trend is worrysome. If profits disappear in techs due to (pick your favorites) a) price pressures from imports from recessionary foreign markets b) no "killer app" for PCs, c) price pressures also from overbuilt capacity across too many tech sectors, etc.,..then it won't matter how many PCs are sold or how many great new networks are built.

It's going to be a small consolation to eventually be able to buy an $800 PC that has a 300Mhz processor, 8GB hd, 17" monitor, video phone, etc, if the techs go into in a bear market. I guess I could always dictate a book into the PC detailing how I lost my money in the tech bear market.
