Maurice and AJ- For Qualcomm's $25 million they also received a commitment from Nextwave that Nextwave would buy 50% of infrastructure from Qualcomm subject to terms to be agreed upon in good faith by both parties at a later time. This seems like a good deal for both parties and Qualcomm's equity investment assures Nextwave of the good faith bargaining. Nextwave is the biggest play out there on U.S. wireless local loop and local company bypass for Long Distance companies. It is not just a "me too" competitor in a crowded market place.
Still, with the scope of this project in mind and the Ericsson inspired lawsuits (via Antigone Communications which ironically is suing QCOM for its excessive foreign ownership) Nextwave is not for the squeamish investor!
