Itanium and its derivatives are aiming higher, right?> Sheeesh, there you go again, talking as if an "Intel variant" to x86-64 is a given. I feel like I'm talking to Dan3 here. Anyway, there will be an eventual mass transition of Xeon to Itanium, even in 2-way rack-optimized servers. This is Intel's long-term strategy with Itanium.
