To date, US monetary policy has done little to turn the economy around. We went into recession with a double whammy of higher interest rates and higher oil prices. Lower interest rates so far have not been enough to turn the tide. Lower oil prices combined with low interest rates is a far more encouraging environment -- and you can see the optimism coming back into the market. When the uncertainties over war and terrorism abate (assuming they do abate), we are well positioned for a period of growth.
