everything i watch says that the major market theme of 2003 hasn't yet fully played out - neither is China's economy 'verging on collapse' ( the exact opposite is true...very likely growth will once again surprise to the upside this year ) as a majority of pundits wants us to believe, nor are the stock, bond and gold markets likely to embark on a big decline...most likely the '04 trading ranges merely represent a typical ( if painful ) correction prior to at least one more up leg in all these markets. i don't care if it makes sense...i even agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense. but too many are betting on declines...the bearishness really got thick in the recent corrections, there's no dip buying mentality on display. so up we shall go, until the bears capitulate.
of course, long term, both the 'reflation policy' and its associated market themes will go ker-splat spectacularly. only not yet...
