Message #15021 from Gerald Walls at Dec 19, 2000 4:38 PM Certainly the largest drop ever in the Nasdaq, 38%, is not something investing Democrats will remember fondly about their political leadership in all this, when they look at their portfolio. Especially Californians that looked at Bill Clinton as their salvation.
Democrats ever blame themselves for something? Hah!
Republicans calling this the "Clinton Crash" during the next presidential election will be drowned out by shrill cry of the Democrats saying that it was due to Bush being elected, conveniently forgetting the second and third quarters. And the bulk of the people, being idiots (in a poll 50% said that government had its own money and didn't know that the government's money is our taxes), will believe the Democrats. Jesse "this was as bad as Dred Scott" Jackson will also mobilize his army who will ignore the fact that Bush is appointing two blacks to the highest executive branch positions ever, perhaps even calling them Oreos.
To be fair, though, this is the crash after a bubble and doesn't have much to do with either political party.
