Cpt. Quincy, Re: "while I pause to slip into my Martha Stewart "Captain Obvious" spandex bodysuit with matching cape."

Loosen up that spandex around the groin area and the neck, captain; I think it's too tight there.

Try not to mix up the whole of the Muslim/Islamic world and those that will try to use force to accomplish their goals. It's only the fear talking. In fact, if you think about it we've been a lot more involved in affecting their everyday lives than they have been in affecting ours. Or don't you think that the Shah of Iran, the rise to power of Saddam Hussein, the preservation of the House of Saud power in Saudi Arabia and a host of other significant actions in the Mideast had our fingerprints all over them.

Maybe the average person in the Mideast has "suffered the consequences of [OUR] ignorance." Maybe there are historical bases for the antiAmerican sentiment that pervades the Mideast. Maybe they see the arms and support we give the Israelis and the use of those arms and support by the Sharon right wing government. Maybe they see that Iraqis are dying by the tens of thousands at the hands of American soldiers. Maybe they don't buy the "kill them for freedom" rationale that we glibly put forth.

Or maybe you're right and we need to KILL THEM ALL. After all, as the Westerners used to say during the Indian massacres, "nits make lice." Those were the good old days when we could smack those little Indian children up against a tree and no namby pamby liberals took pictures of their brains running out on the ground.

The truth is that both sides are partially right and partially wrong, but that both sides will have to find a way to live together. I think it was Clinton that said at one of the Camp David summits; "At some time our children or our children's children will have to find a way to live together, we may as well find it now."

That means that the righteously empowered people like yourself will have to get out of the way so that grown ups can find a way. In the meantime lead on "Captain Obvious."
