More People Watched Bush-Kerry than Bush-Gore
The TV audience of Thursdays night's presidential debate - 62 million viewers - topped the first Bush-Gore debate - 46.6 million viewers - by 34 percent, but fell far short of a record.
That record, was set on Oct. 28, 1980, when a whopping 80.6 milli0n viewers watched the Reagan-Carter debate, according to the Los Angeles Times

Thursday's debate was broadcast live on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox URL:News Channel, CNN and MSNBC. According to Nielsen Media Research, NBC got the most total viewers (17.2 million), trailed by CBS (13.5 million), ABC (11.5 million), Fox News Channel (9.6 million), Fox Broadcasting (5.2 million), CNN (4.4 million) and MSNBC (1.2 million). PBS and C-SPAN also covered the debate, although those figures were not immediately available. The debate was the second-most-watched program in Fox News' history, topped only by President Bush's announcement of the bombing of Iraq on March 19, 2003 (9.7 million).
