Doing the multiplication this trade deficit equals 3.82MM jobs. I believe that the current economy could not absorb this many additional jobs without bringing on inflation and all the bad things that accompany it. Further, by consumers being able to purchase imported goods, U.S. companies are forced to keep prices lower than they would otherwise. I don't know the veracity of the numbers you stated, only working with them.
