Overall very bullish, but short-term conservative due to economic slowdown in overall spending. When pushed, they said they are just being conservative because they don't see any slowdown in their business. for example, they see no slowdown in WCOMs business. long-term very bullish.

Financials:

* Revs up 38% seq (ist qtr is always slowest qtr in Telcom spending per AVNX and confirmed by me)
* Gross Margins up 2.5% and they see it moving to 51%-54%
* 2001 Calendar Year - Revs $275M, EPS $.47-$.49
* Operating Margins increasing from 9% to 16% in 2001
* Strong Cash poition of $195M
* R&D up to 22% of Revs. will be 18% of Revs in 2001
* Increasing Gross Margins 1.5% to 2% PER QTR this year

Operating Results

* 2 new customers over 10% - NT and Fits
* Customers grew from 12 to 15
* Power Shaper in successful pilot
* PowerExchangerMetro very excited about. successful field tests
* Both ExchangerMetro and Shaper both providing Revs in June Qtr
* No one has competitive product. Analyst asked specific company (didn't hear name) and he said No.
* No push outs or cancellations of orders
* 86 patents pending (up from 60 in last qtr)
* PowerMux Next Generation is in Beta test.
* NT is PowerMux customer
* mentioned they are working on a special project with WCOM. again, see no slowdown from WCOM (in whole dollars but as % of total revs they will decline)

again, they were conservative due to hearing there was an economic slowdown. however, when pushed they said they haven't seen any slowdown in their business. they said they were being conservative because they didn't want to "be blind" to the economic situation.

take it for what it is worth
