Jim,

I fully expected a tailored press release from both camps.
The SanDisk release had more of a collegial undertone
and admitted that SanDisk entered the project mid-stream.

Again, I remain very excited about the synergy of the SanDisk/Toshiba efforts. As Eli emphasized at the annual meeting, both parties bring very complimentary areas of competence to the table and the overlap seems to be small in proportion to the scope of the undertaking.

The true test will be getting Dominion operational by mid-2001. The fact that Toshiba spearheaded the latest developments and the the Yokkaichi fab is the centerpiece may have colored the Toshiba press release somewhat.

I detected a certain level of electricity in the quotes from Sanjay Mehrotra. Recall that the MOU was announced just about 12 months ago and already the efforts are bearing fruit. The fact that SanDisk wrote a press release at all and then released it late in the evening is an indicator (to me) that this is, in fact, a milestone for SanDisk.

Elated,

Aus
