Sprint to halt TLAB AN2100 and choose route to migrate their backbone to voice/ATM in a more cost effective manner. Regardless who will be involved in FON/Sprint project, it is onother validation of ATM technology. My guess NT,traditional FON vendor will be involved. This remind me TeraBridge JV,about which everybody forgot. Now we understand why TLAB was talking to NN in March, after TeraBridge was formed with TeleHub.

LISLE, Ill. (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Tellabs -- a maker of data, voice and video transport and access systems -- dropped 3 to 70 1/4 after the company announced late Tuesday that Sprint would no longer implement a development program in which a Tellabs system was being tested.
The program, known as the JCS 2000, was an internal Sprint (FON: news, msgs) development project established to replace the carrier's long-distance infrastructure with a next-generation, voice-over-ATM architecture.
Overall, analysts remained positive on Tellabs' (TLAB: news, msgs) shares, saying weakness provides a buying opportunity.
Sprint shares rose 3/4 to 71 3/4 in recent trading. |
