Pentagon wanted them destroyed as there was no civilian use for the stuff. Besides China proper, did some of this technology and know-how go to Pakistan and Iran? Iran has lately develop medium-range missiles (800 miles ?) that can interdict access to the Persian/ Arabic Gulf. US Navy can pay a price in those waters. All these small news items have been reported in the press over time. This is much more serious than the harem stories or the Whitewater ripoff.
