Jem, I understand what you are trying to do, and I think it is a very nice thing to do. What I think Gary was saying tho, is that while it is a nice thing to do, there are many causes where your donation could be better served.
I have known Gary personally for quite some time. Actually, I first made his acquaintance when he was hosting a black-tie charity event for Toys For Tots. I don't know if they keep a list of their top 'givers' or not, but if they do, I would be certain that his name would be high on the Georgia Chapter's. I know this particular charity is near and dear to him, however, he does also work with others. He is, by nature, a very giving man. (and that should be obvious to each and every one of us here.)
Most webservers provide an amount of internet space at no additional charge. While I don't know how large Gary plans to make his site, it is usually hard to use all of the space anyway. He is incurring little, if any, additional expense, and he is the type of person who would rather not take up a slot on someone's list that could be better filled by someone else.
I think a miscommunication did happen somewhere along the line, but I seriously doubt he was offended.
Just my $125 opinion's worth!
:-) Binder
