I am truly astounded at the unmitigated gall of your legal department. Are they minimalist programmers or maximalist legalizers? I can absolutely prove prior invention of the mini kernel. As far back as 1972 I was writing such code micros and leaving them as is to stare at the perfection of this program-in-a-line kernel and wonder at its sheer raw power, brilliance and wide applicability. As a matter of fact Kernighan, Ritchie and I used to start all our code that very same way. The only difference is that is where I stopped and K and R went on to fill in with all kinds of non-portable extraneous detail, completely oblivious to the genius of the shorter approach.

I claim prior invention. Sue me. It may interest you to know I have perfected the fastest and most compact law suit as well as the fastest and most compact kernel.

It is genius in itself. I simply call the biggest dumbest hoodlum I know and tell him that you have implicitly offended him by your claim and to defend his family honour he must take you to "court". It is as easy to convince him that you have been calling him a homosexual in secret emails as it was for Mcarthy to convince Americans that the communists were merely clever in their ability to look innocent.

Beat that.
