Applause!!! Applause!!! -- for an extremely useful and thought provoking post.

Question: How hard would it be for the erp guys and /or psft to deliver a viable application in the space. From your post, it would seem to be quite challenging allowing vntv to maintain its market positition with minimal price reductions - this would make vantive an extremely attractive long term holding.

However, this is not yet the perception in two critical areas. it is my understanding that the PSFT tech weenies think it would take them 25 minutes to knock off vantive's technology. more importantly, it is CLEARLY the perception among the sell side analyst community that this is much easier stuff to do than say erp - and they site as an example the innumerable small private companies in the support space. (Off coruse you could also site the innumerable small private companies in the erp space too!)
