ROCKHAVEN RESOURCES LTD. DRILLS 66.20 G/T GOLD AND 403 G/T SILVER (74.26 G/T GOLD EQ) OVER 1.00 M AND 26.71 G/T GOLD AND 172 G/T SILVER (30.15 G/T GOLD EQ) OVER 2.98 M AT THE KLAZA PROJECT, YUKON
Rockhaven Resources Ltd. is releasing results for 12 additional drill holes from the Western BRX zone at its 100-per-cent-owned and road-accessible Klaza property, located in the Dawson Range gold belt of southern Yukon. The most recent results continue to delineate areas of high-grade gold and silver mineralization within the Western BRX zone (see news releases dated July 15, 2014, and July 22, 2014). The current 12,000-metre diamond drill program is focusing on the BRX and Klaza zones, which are two of the nine well-mineralized structural zones that have been identified on the property.
Highlights from the new drill holes testing the Western BRX zone are as follows:
- 26.71 grams per tonne gold and 172 grams per tonne silver (30.15 grams per tonne gold equivalent (i)) over 2.98 metres, including 38.20 grams per tonne gold and 333 grams per tonne silver (44.86 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 1.16 metres in hole 150;
- 22.43 grams per tonne gold and 245 grams per tonne silver (27.33 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 3.21 metres, including 64.90 grams per tonne gold and 725 grams per tonne silver (79.40 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 0.72 metre in hole 151;
- 11.10 grams per tonne gold and 86.8 grams per tonne silver (12.84 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 2.10 metres in hole 152;
- 14.30 grams per tonne gold and 142 grams per tonne silver (17.14 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 2.06 metres, including 32.20 grams per tonne gold and 252 grams per tonne silver (37.24 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 0.76 metre in hole 153;
- 66.20 grams per tonne gold and 403 grams per tonne silver (74.26 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 1.00 metre in hole 154;
- 14.30 grams per tonne gold and 513 grams per tonne silver (24.56 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 0.97 metre in hole 156;
- 9.65 grams per tonne gold and 240 grams per tonne silver (14.45 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 1.74 metres in hole 157;
- 12.28 grams per tonne gold and 123 grams per tonne silver (14.74 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 1.39 metres, and 42.00 grams per tonne gold and 432 grams per tonne silver (50.64 grams per tonne gold equivalent) over 0.50 metre, in hole 158.
"The current drill program is proving to be highly successful and is validating that the Western BRX zone is a significant gold-silver discovery," stated Matt Turner, chief executive officer of Rockhaven Resources. "The new holes continue to indicate exceptional continuity and size potential and are encouraging Rockhaven to test this target further along strike and at depth."
Western BRX zone
The Western BRX zone is the main target of the 2014 diamond drill program. The zone consists of three linear vein structures, which have been traced over a 750-metre strike length and from surface to a maximum down-dip depth of 400 metres. The highest-grade veins are emplaced directly adjacent to or in close proximity to the hangingwall (BRXh) and footwall (BRXf) contacts of a feldspar porphyry dike that can be traced along the length of the zone. A secondary vein (BRXb), located 20 m to 70 m into the hangingwall of the dike, is oriented slightly oblique to the main veins. This vein appears to be unaffected by crosscut faults that offset the main veins and may represent a later-stage mineralizing event.
A total of 23 of the 25 holes reported from 2014 drilling at the Western BRX zone have tested a 580 m section of this 750 m long zone. The other two holes have defined a postmineralization cross-fault that offsets the zone.
Significant new results are shown in the table.

True widths are estimated to be approximately 80 per cent to 90 per cent of the interval. (i) Gold equivalence has been calculated using metal prices of $1,300 per ounce gold and $26.00 per ounce silver to be consistent with earlier calculations and assumes 100-per-cent recoveries of both metals. KL-14-149 appears to have entered an offset fault that postdates mineralization before testing the Western BRX zone structure. KL-14-159 is an exploration hole from elsewhere on the property. Results from this hole are pending.
Drilling and trenching at the road-accessible Klaza property since 2010 have identified nine main mineralized structural zones and numerous subsidiary structures within a 2,000-metre-by-4,000-metre corridor. Individually, the main zones range from one metre to 75 metres in width and are continuously mineralized over strike lengths of 250 metres to 2,400 metres. The zones have been traced over a cumulative strike length of 9,400 metres and all remain open for expansion along strike and to depth.
In 2014, a total of 9,500 metres of diamond drilling has been completed in 54 holes at the Klaza property. Maps, sections and an expanded assay list, which includes copper, lead and zinc values for the significant intervals, can be viewed at the company's website. Additional results will be released once assays are received, compiled and evaluated.
All analyses for rock and core samples from the 2014 program were performed by ALS Minerals, with sample preparation in Whitehorse and assays and geochemical analyses in North Vancouver. Core samples are routinely analyzed for gold by fire assay followed by atomic absorption (Au-AA24) and 48 other elements by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ME-MS61). Samples that exceed the detection limits of the routine methods are assayed for silver, copper, lead and zinc by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (silver/copper/lead/zinc -- OG62) and gold by gravimetric analysis (Au-GRA22). Rigorous procedures are in place regarding sample collection, chain of custody and data entry. Certified assay standards, coarse reject duplicates, field duplicates and blanks are routinely inserted into the sample stream to ensure integrity of the assay process. All of the results reported have passed the quality assurance/quality control screening.
The 2014 program is managed by Archer, Cathro & Associates (1981) Ltd. Technical information in this news release has been approved by Matthew Dumala, PEng, a geological engineer with Archer Cathro and qualified person for the purpose of National Instrument 43-101. |
