LindyBill: No particular point in worrying about whether it was best to buy the Q when the tornado started or soon thereafter or not, since this thread did not exist when the Q's tornado started.

Therefore there was no pertinent discussion of the Q's tornado until the spring of 1999 here.

So as far as this thread is concerned, its moot.

But it is an interesting exercise as far as the GG principles are concerned.

Naturally I maintain that the sooner after it is clear that a gorilla's tornado has started - buy.

That is consistent with the approach outlined in the book.

Since we are all trying to learn here, the timing of a move into a gorilla is of considerable interest, no?

For me, as will surprise no one here, once I see a potential gorilla in the areas I have studied in some depth and am comfortable with in the overall technological setting, sooner beats later.

And if you know what you are doing and choose wisely, the sooner in while the tornado is in process, the better. And the more profitable.

Perhaps being consistent with the book is not wise as other factors may override, and as Emerson said "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". I would opt for consistency even so.

But I defer to Mike on that of course.

Best.
