Re: [The truth of that statement depends ENTIRELY on whether you can call a $500 contribution a "large cash gift".]
"Not really... the truth depends on who you can believe is telling the truth, on who has more credibility when they speak..."
Sorry, GZ, but you are WRONG.
Facts not in evidence.
There is NO NEED to resort to "believing" unsupported assertions BY ANYONE over ANYONE ELSE since campaign contributions are PUBLIC INFORMATION... and anyone can just go look 'em up on the Web.
(And PLENTY OF PEOPLE do! And DID in this case.)
Anyway, your 'unnamed radio source' does not APPEAR to have said anything demonstrably "untrue". According to you, all he said was that it was a "large cash gift".
Well, if in his mind $500 is "large" then what he said is true. (He was merely characterizing the contribution... sounds like he never said it *wasn't* just $500. He never mentioned any amount at all. :-)
That's why I said that it depends on what you define to be a "large" contribution.
Re: "I tend to believe the guy on the radio because I've been listening to his program for many years and he has never said anything that I've suspected as false.."
As I just pointed out: according to what you've posted, your guy hasn't exactly come right out and "lied", (if all he said was that it was a "large contribution"), for he may be a real cheapskate and "$500" may be BIG, BIG MONEY to him. :-)
However, $500 DOLLARS is the exact amount under discussion, what was reported on the federal disclosures and discussed by the Press and the candidate was questioned about... not any other amounts or other contributions.
So... unless someone comes up with evidence of SOME OTHER CONTRIBUTION OR SOME OTHER AMOUNT then that is all the discussion is about. |
