AA will no longer be needed when discrimination is gone. Every time I think we are getting there, there is a study like that from NBC (which is hardly an organization with an agenda) showing that discrimination is still prevalent.

You can find individual examples where AA might not be justified, just like you could find the odd North Dakotan who got aid and in reality didn't needed. Is that enough of an argument to stop the aid for North Dakotans? or simply an argument for tinkering with the system so that aid goes to those who really need it?

Now tell me, is Bush proposing small reforms to the system or simply asking that we do away with it?

Even the Republicans knew that statements like those made by Lott were an argument in favor of AA. That's why they did away with him, so to speak...
