The facts from the CC are as follows regarding earnings.

Yr 2002: Earnings $1.55 to 1.65/sh; Rev will grow to over $2.1b.

The drop is caused by the allocation of $225m for 5 activities planned for 2002. These expenses were defined.
In brief the Operational earnings only dropped marginally. Howver it seems that the Sellers have overlooked this detail and are fixated about the drop in earnings estimated at $2.55 to $1.55 whilst the actual drop is actually only about 30c down.

You rarely get a Pharma at this price.!
