ShiftyVets are guilty of libel and should be sued for hundreds of millions of dollars. This would send a strong message to any slander and smear campaigns in the future that there is a terrible price to pay for lying about an opponent and trying to assassinate his/her character. I would like to see Perry the SJerks financier be held accountable and have to pay with every dime he's got. That would be a real victory for truth, justice and democracy.

BTW: Unlike the ShiftyVets, Michael Moore was very careful when he went after Bush. First of all he made no bones about his partisanship. He wants Bush out. Then he hired New York magazine's top fact-checker and made sure he could back up and prove every assertion he made in the film. In fact, Moore has threatened to sue MCNBC for libel when someone on that net called him a liar.

The SHiftyJerks have made a serious mistake. They can easily be proven liars.

It is not illegal to lie except under oath, but it is illegal to deliberately and knowingly libel someone public and and maliciously with intent to damage their lives, reputations and career.

What is the different between this and other libel suits with large rewards, like Tom Cruise getting 30 million from UK tabloids for claiming he's gay? The only problem I see would be that it would do that the Bushies want and drag our national debate down into the mud. Kerry wants to sick to the high road but Bushies want them in a mud-fight so they can bring in insults and wedge issues instead of discussing real issues.
