I2: Do not despair. I am reminded of a story about one Michel de
Nostredame. Michel announced to his regular dinner guests one night
that the stock of a certain company would surely decline all hallow
when trading resumed the next morning. The next evening Michel's
dinner guests remarked that the stock in question had instead
turned tail and advanced smartly by several points that day.

Aware of Michel's uncanny prognosticatory powers, the frequent
guests expressed considerable bemusement at this unforeseen turn
of events. Michel de Nostredame responded that higher powers
had ordained short covering, in this case. Since the questionable
art of selling borrowed shares would not be invented until 400
years hence, the guests left table quite satisfied not only with
Michel's cuisine but also with his esoteric explanation.
