Clinton and Carter did the same. So have most Presidents at one time or another. So what? You sound like a child if you argue, "John and Martha did it too, Mother!"

But in this case, mother knew John and Martha were doing it and approved of their doing it, but now says that because you're the Rodney Dangerfield of the family and your mother doesn't like you it's wrong for you to do the same thing.

Can you spell hypocrisy?

Of course, this is partisian politics, so we should expect them to be hypocritical. But that doesn't mean that we have to, too. Can't we be more intelligent and responsible than our politicians? It really doesn't take much at all.
