I found Carr's use of the George Packer quotes the most helpful. Carr's writing tends to be idea filled, metaphor thick, but lacking focus. Not an argument moving through it which holds the piece together.

Carr, however, is a fascinating writer. amazon.com. As I wrote here at the time, I shared a flight from Austin back to Newark with him, seatmates, about a year and half ago. Great conversationalist.
