I would be careful of some of the closed end funds. Many of the Asian funds are trading at huge premiums to NAV, particularly Indonesian and Thai in the range of 75 - 100% premium. I believe that the Malaysia and Korean funds also trade at significant premiums. Many of the general Pacific rim funds do trade at a discount though. Discounts/premiums and holdings for many of these funds can be found at:

trustnet.co.uk

I think the Asian WEBBS, EWM (Malaysia) and EWS (Singapore), offer better value but not as many choices.
It does look like one more down cycle, at least, is in the cards for these markets despite the damage it will surely wreak.
Any thoughts about this spilling over into other emerging markets, Latin America,... Japan?

Regards,
Derrick
