Saudi Plans $100 Billion to Raise Petrochemicals Output by 2016

June 7 (Bloomberg) -- Saudi Arabia plans to invest $100 billion over the next five years to boost its petrochemical output to more than 80 million metric tons a year, a board member of Saudi Aramco said.

Saudi Arabia produces 60 million tons a year, about 62 percent of total Gulf Cooperation Council output, Qatar News Agency reported today, citing Mohammed ibn Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel, who is also president of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.
