3Com made their earnings this quarter. How about the previous
two quarters? I don't think they have ever missed a quarter
by such a wide margin as Ascend has announced.

What I am more interested in knowing is how the next quarter
will be any better or different for Ascend from this quarter?
How do they plan to make up for the shortfall this quarter and
accelerate their business going forward. If they can't answer
these and other key questions, then they won't rise very far
from where they are currently.

I would venture to say that since they will miss Q3 by such a
wide margin, management at Ascend could have pre-announced quite
some time ago...unless they actually thought they could
wrap up an additional $50 million in sales in the final few days of
the Q...unlikely.

What I can say is this, the management could have done a better
job at handling this quarter, period. I look for Ascend to clear
40 by year's end...not much comfort for those who purchased in
the 50's or so, I know. But, any further upward move has to be
accompanied by firm statements and evidence from management that
their future is intact and that Q3's shortfall was a temporary
occurrence.

Mory did comment that PC demand/sales in Japan have been waning
throughout this year...what will change this? What will change
in Europe to increase TNT sales?
