The second is that state run businesses in which the employees are unionized are a disaster. That is a case that has yet to be made.

Schools are, almost without exception, creatures of local government:

New Jersey must be behind the times. California, and most others, have been forced by Liberal cries for "equality" in school systems to go to State Funding. As a result, I saw the School Boards, which are in the hands of Union backed members and funded by State and Federal Money; reduced to rubber stamps. "Local Control" of schools there is a joke. Books, Bureaucracy, et al, are dictated by the Educational establishment, the Administrators, and the Teacher's Unions.
