" Batteries are improving, but likely not as fast as CPU wattage levels"

Understatement of the year. Battery technologies have come further in the past 10 years than they have come in the past century. Batteries are getting to the point to where they are dangerous, there are special techniques and equipment required if a box of them catches on fire. But it still isn't enough. The next step will be direct conversion fuel cells or maybe meso-technology gas turbine generators. There is only so much you can do with pure chemistry...

The power requirements on the laptops is getting insane. Already they are getting laps uncomfortably warm, add another 10-15 watts and it might get painful.
