My dear 'ghosts' amigos;

56K modems already installed, which is the reason
they believed that they had not seen a massive
pickup in sales of ANY brand of modems even
with the V.90 announcement.
If this is true, we should be looking more at
OEM modem deals (at which 3Com has done pretty well)
more than the retail channel, for indicators in
desktop modem sales.<<

WOW!! This makes a sh*tl*ad of sense!!
I thought about it before, but didn't hang
on the concept long enough.

Anyway, my next most immediate thought is:

During the H&Q, Eric B. said that there was
gong to be a "big PC anouncement" soon.
Anybody remember that??

Well, a few days later, TCI cable contract
was announced, but I never thought that was
'the big PC announcement'.

If there is still a big PC announcement to be
made, then that may solve all around problems
for a while...

Wadayathink??

PS. If you want to tell me not to get my hopes
up...I'll understand ...<ggg>

From Brief.com
------------------------------------------------
3Com Corp. computer networking concern said
at the Hambrecht&Quist conference that current
sales channel inventory is excellent with
operating margins improving to 16%-20% in
several quarters; expenses are viewed to be
"flat to down" in the coming quarters; also
sees one major PC modem announcement in the
current quarter.....
