It seems to me one twist in your pc cresting theory is the fact that the same companies that make the pc's are also the ones that are making the servers that will benefit from the proliferation of networks. Taking this into consideration, isn't the relationship between pc's (including servers) and embedded systems more like the relationship between automobiles and airplanes rather than barges and railroads? Or am I missing something in regard to the full potential of embedded systems? Bruce
